May 2015 Meeting

Spalding Springfields Probus Club met on Wednesday May 20th for the monthly meeting and some things for the future were decided. The Ladies Day will be brought forward from December to November in order to permit more members and partners to attend. This is because it had been noted that a significant number of members went away on Tinsel & Turkey trips or had family commitments in December. We also chose to dispense with barbecued hot meat at the July meeting in order to facilitate better quality food and more timely eating arrangements.

Members thought that last year’s President Larry Spector should become a Life Member for his services to the club.

Our guest speaker was Mr Philip Bell who is head of History at Spalding Grammar School. He gave an interesting talk on turning points in history. Sometimes what we think of as momentous occasions at the time turn out to be less than that as time passes. On the other hand some things that may seem comparatively trivial when we live through them can be great turning points of history.
